Teddy Mosomothane

Chief Executive and Principal Officer Bankmed Medical Scheme

Teddy Mosomothane is currently the Chief Executive and Principal Officer at Bankmed medical scheme. He has been with Bankmed since 1 May 2008, and in the current role since 1 July 2013. His current areas of responsibility broadly include strategic initiatives, service delivery, financial performance, stakeholder management, human resources development, and governance.

Before the current role, he was the Scheme's Finance and Risk Executive, a position he held since 2008. He was responsible for financial and risk management as well as ensuring Scheme compliance with all applicable legislative obligations and principles of good corporate governance.

Teddy has a total of 22 years working experience in the fields of finance, risk management, and corporate governance, the last 9 of these within the medical scheme industry. He has a B Com degree from UCT, and also completed an Executive MBA programme at UCT. Teddy also completed a range of further training and development programmes, including the Global Executive Development Programme at GIBS in 2011.

Recently (17 February 2017), Teddy’s involvement in an industry body operating as Health Funders Association (HFA), culminated into him being elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HFA.
