Stephen Johnston

Managing Executive Discovery InHouse and CEO Discovery Administration Services

Stephen Johnston has 28 years' experience in the South African medical scheme environment. He is currently CEO of Discovery Administration Services (PTY) Ltd and Head of Discovery InHouse which is responsible for the management of restricted membership medical schemes under Discovery Health's administration.

Has been actively involved in 38 different Medical Scheme Trustee Boards during his tenure with Discovery Health and was part of the group which established the Health Funders Association in 2015.

Stephen has a deep understanding of regulatory and policy matters pertaining to the medical schemes industry and an uncompromising approach to all principles of governance.

Additionally, he has been the Principal Officer of the Discovery Staff Pension anc:Provident Funds since 1999.

Academically, he has a financial background with a CFP from the University of Free State and postgraduate business management diplomas from Wits Business School and Oxford University.
